Kohilari Beach is a kitesurfing spot located on the west coast of the island of Kos, just north of Kefalos, in the southern Aegean Sea in Greece. The 2 km long beach, made up of soft fine sand, offers a unique setting and allows you to admire a spectacular sunset. It is a place popular with locals for its steady wind and relaxed atmosphere.

The spot is particularly suited for experienced kitesurfers, although beginners and intermediates can also enjoy suitable conditions. A mobile kitesurfing center is present on the beach, offering rental, repair, and training services. Access is easy and the beach has all the necessary amenities: parking, toilets, food, and rescue.

Location

Detailed information

Kohilari Beach benefits from a side-onshore wind, allowing you to move away from the beach and enjoy a wide and safe water surface. The dominant wind is the Meltemi, blowing between 15 and 25 knots, with peaks reaching 35 knots in high season.

The water surface is generally flat with some occasional chop, especially in the presence of strong winds. The launch area is directly on the sandy beach, and the take-off zone is well defined. The navigation areas extend for several hundred meters, with clear limits to avoid risky zones.

Local features include the presence of a mobile kitesurfing center, offering complete services, and the proximity of Kefalos, a picturesque village with bars and restaurants. The beach is easily accessible and has all the necessary amenities for a day of kitesurfing.
