Treompan

The beach of Tréompan, located in Ploudalmézeau in northern Brittany, is a long stretch of white sand bordered by dunes and protected by the Rocher du Serpent. It is a welcoming spot for kitesurfing, with plenty of space to have fun. Also known as the beach of the 3 Sheep by locals, it offers a natural and wild setting.

Near the Pointe Saint-Mathieu, the beach forms a sheltered cove from the wind near the shore, but it heats up quickly when you move away. A kite school on site makes the place perfect for first rides. The parking is large and right next to it, access is easy.

The spot attracts riders for its calm water and conditions suitable for beginners, even though the winds of Finistère can be surprising.

Location

Detailed information

The spot works well with winds from Northwest to Southwest, often side-shore from the NW which charges the water nicely without too much crossing. For winds from South to West, it is more side-on, ideal for staying close to the beach. The launch is easy on the sand, with a wide takeoff area at low tide when there is plenty of space.

At high tide, the beach shrinks a bit but remains navigable, the water becomes more open and can get choppy with the swell. Navigation areas extend offshore where moderate waves form, perfect for freestyle or light wave. Near the Rocher du Serpent, it is more sheltered, great for beginners who stay close to the edge. Schools like Rêve O Kite limit students and use radios for safety.

In summer, be careful of potential swimming zones, but overall the space is generous. The wind is consistent thanks to the generous weather of northern Finistère, with more than 200 navigable days per year.
