Porsmilin (Portez)

The Porsmilin beach, located in Portez near Brest in Finistère, is a small sandy cove protected by rocks on both sides. It is a very confidential spot, favored by local expert riders for its sheltered bay and crystal clear water.

It is easily accessible by car from Brest via the D789 towards Le Conquet, then following the signs to Porsmilin and a short walk to the beach. The parking is close, making sessions convenient despite the small size of the beach.

Calm and wild atmosphere, typical of Breton spots in Finistère where kitesurfing has been king since the origins of the sport.

Location

Detailed information

Porsmilin beach only works with a SE side-on wind that perfectly enters the small protected bay, creating a flat to choppy water ideal for advanced tricks. The launch area is directly from the narrow sandy beach, with a limited takeoff zone in the center to avoid the rocks on the sides; be sure to check the space before inflating.

The navigation area remains in the bay, large enough for jumps and freestyle despite the small size, but stay vigilant on the northern and southern rocky limits. Tides have little influence on the spot as the water remains navigable, but at low tide the beach space reduces even more, making launching technical. In pure SE, the wind is thermal in the afternoon and steady, perfect for long sessions without risking offshore.

No crowd, but watch out for other potential users like fishermen or walkers; the spot is expert only to manage the precision required in this confined space.
