Sanguinet

The Aigrettes beach is located on the Lac de Sanguinet in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, near Biscarrosse. It is a kitesurfing spot allowed outside the summer season but prohibited in July and August by prefectural decree. The beach is small, surrounded by pine trees, and take-off usually occurs in the water.

This place attracts riders for its calm and shallow water, ideal for progression. There is a local atmosphere, with few people in the low season, but one must remain vigilant about the authorized areas.

The spot works well with winds from south to west, in a natural setting preserved from the Landes.

Location

Detailed information

The Aigrettes spot mainly works with winds from south to west, oriented side-on or side-shore relative to the north-south oriented beach. Take-off occurs in the water as the beach is tiny and cluttered with pine trees at the edge; you need to walk a bit to get away from the trees and avoid disturbed gusts at the edge. The navigation area is wide once offshore, with a flat to chop water surface without influential tides since it is a freshwater lake.

Launching is easy on a shallow sandy bottom, you can stand for a good distance. Absolutely avoid the 'cove' downwind, a sheltered area with no landing possible. In the summer season, respect the total prohibition; outside the season, check the signs on site for swimming areas and the port channel on the right. Prepare the gear in the parking lot or on the grass but take off in the water to avoid disturbing swimmers or risking obstacles.

The water level remains stable without ocean tides, perfect for foiling but sometimes you need to walk 10 minutes to find enough depth. Stay away from hunting buoys and the channel where the current can surprise.
