Cazaux
The Cazaux-Lac beach, located on the Cazaux Lake in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, is a popular spot for kiters due to its calm water and easy access from the Cazaux base. Surrounded by pines and close to the Dune of Pyla, it offers a natural setting with a relaxed atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of ocean spots.
It is an ideal place to progress in kitesurfing thanks to its protected water and consistent wind. Locals often come here for quiet sessions, especially when the wind comes from the north.
The spot is accessible by car and has nearby parking, making it convenient for a full day of riding.

Location
Detailed information
The spot works well with a North or Northwest wind, which comes in side-on relative to the south-facing beach, providing good stability for navigation. The lake is protected by a thick forest, which mitigates the wind strength compared to nearby beaches, but makes it more consistent and less gusty.
The launch area is directly from the sandy beach, with a large clear take-off area. Navigation takes place on a flat to lightly choppy water surface, with no influencing tides as it is a freshwater lake connected to the ocean but stable.
The sandbank offshore, accessible by boat, offers an exclusive area with shallow water extending several hundred meters, perfect for training. Avoid south winds that are too offshore and unstable. Sessions are optimal from April to October with moderate gusts.
