Calais

Located immediately west of the port of Calais, Blériot-Plage is an iconic spot on the Opal Coast, known for its vast sandy expanses, marked tides, and typically northern conditions. Bordered by dunes and facing the Strait of Pas-de-Calais, the beach offers powerful and lively navigation, often rhythmically influenced by the visible maritime traffic offshore. Less wild than Oye Beach but more open than urban beaches, Blériot-Plage attracts riders seeking engaged sessions in open sea with plenty of space at low tide.

Location

Detailed information

Navigation takes place in open sea, with a very strong influence from the tides. At low tide, the beach becomes immense and allows for comfortable take-offs far from the water. At high tide, space is significantly reduced and requires more technical navigation. The dominant wind is from west to northwest, offering side to side-onshore conditions. The water surface is mostly choppy to rough, with short and sometimes messy waves related to the sandbanks and currents.
