Oye-Plage

Between Calais and the Belgian border, Les Hemmes de Marck, also known as Oye Beach, is one of the wildest and most preserved spots on the northern Opal Coast. An immense beach lined with classified dunes, this site offers an impressive sense of space and a decidedly natural atmosphere. Far from urbanization, the spot attracts riders in search of freedom, long crossings, and committed navigation in a raw setting. At low tide, the beach seems endless and allows for easy isolation, even on windy days.

Location

Detailed information

Navigation takes place in open sea, with a strong influence from tides and sandbanks. The dominant wind is oriented west to northwest, providing ideal side to side-onshore conditions for kitesurfing. At low tide, the beach is extremely wide, making it easy to launch and secure take-offs. At high tide, the space reduces but remains usable for riders comfortable in marine conditions. The water is generally choppy to rough, with wave formation when the wind is well established.
