Lac de Neuchâtel

Saint-Blaise, on the north shore of Lac de Neuchâtel, is a popular spot for riders due to its shallow water and consistent conditions. Located in a small municipality at the end of the lake, just after the city of Neuchâtel, this area offers a simple setting with lawns for easy rigging.

It is a place that brings together windsurfers and kiters, especially when the wind establishes well. The spot works particularly well in South-West, with a relaxed local atmosphere and sessions that can become intense.

No crazy infrastructure, but access is direct and the water remains suitable for all levels.

Detailed information

The Saint-Blaise spot mainly works with a South-West wind, which arrives side-on relative to the north-east facing beach, creating an ideal water surface for progression. Launching is done directly from the grassy or sandy shore, with a large take-off area on the surrounding lawns that facilitate setup.

The navigation area extends offshore on the lake, where the water is shallow near the shore before becoming deeper, perfect for freestyle or first sessions. There are no tides since it is a lake, but the water surface quickly transitions from flat in the morning to chop in the afternoon with the thermal, and can form nice waves in strong South-West winds.

Be careful to stay in the central area to avoid reed shores or crowded zones; the spot is wide but requires a minimum of experience to handle gusts at the end of the session.
