Plage Cap Est
France · Martinique
The beach of Cap Est is located on the Atlantic coast of François, Martinique. It is a somewhat hidden spot with access to a beautiful turquoise lagoon, appreciated by kitesurfers for its consistent winds.
The beach is small and part of the Lagoon Resort & Spa, but it remains open to all. It has a wild and typical atmosphere, with translucent water that invites freeride and freestyle.
Close to the white bottoms of the bay of François, it is a secret place to sail away from the crowds, with a kitesurfing school on site to improve.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot offers easy access to the lagoon from the small beach, but the entry is narrow and reserved for experienced riders. Launching is done in a precise corridor, and you need to move about 200 meters from the shore to sail freely, especially in foil or wing. Winds from the East and Southeast are perfect, side-on or side-shore relative to the Atlantic-oriented beach, creating a mixed water surface with flat areas in the center of the lagoon and chop areas on the periphery.
The navigation area is limited by the lack of water in several places, ideal for freeride and freestyle, but not for surfing the waves of the coral barrier which are difficult to access. Near the shore, you can stand on a sandy/muddy bottom for about 50 meters, perfect for starting the first runs or piloting. Launching is done from the private beach, often via the Fun Caraïbes school, and there are distinct areas depending on the tide: more technical at low tide.
No anchoring possible in front of the beach, and for advanced sessions, you can reach the white bottoms like the Baignoire de Joséphine or the reefs offshore. The current varies by area, stronger in certain corners of the lagoon.
