Plage de Sainte-Anne
France · Guadeloupe
Sainte-Anne beach, in Guadeloupe, is a popular kitesurfing spot with its lagoon protected by a coral reef. It features a bottom mixing sand and seagrass, with turquoise waters ideal for all levels. The beach is wide and clear, perfect for rigging and launching safely.
Close to Club Med at La Caravelle, it is a lively place during the tourist season, with kite schools on site. The spot is dedicated to kitesurfing, with no other water activities, and offers flat water in the lagoon and a small wave on the outer reef. It is the perfect place to progress or ride with friends.
Accessible to all, it combines a relaxed atmosphere and consistent conditions thanks to the trade winds.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works ideally with a wind from East to West, coming side-shore or side-on relative to the south-facing beach. The navigation area is a secure lagoon of 600-700m in the wind axis, with a large part in shallow water where you can stand everywhere. The launch is directly from the wide and clear beach, with ample space for takeoff and landing of kites.
The water surface is flat in the inner lagoon, protected by the coral reef that blocks the swell, and a small wave forms on the outer reef for those wanting freestyle or jumps. Tides do not significantly impact conditions, but beware of the speed limit of 5 knots in the coastal area. Buoys mark the official kitesurfing area, regulated by municipal order.
In high season (December-February), the beach can be crowded with bathers, so increased vigilance is required. Local schools like Glisse & Kite Caraïbes or Feeling Kite ensure good organization on the water.
