Informations utiles
The spot works ideally with a wind from East to West, coming side-shore or side-on relative to the south-facing beach. The navigation area is a secure lagoon of 600-700m in the wind axis, with a large part in shallow water where you can stand everywhere. The launch is directly from the wide and clear beach, with ample space for takeoff and landing of kites.
The water surface is flat in the inner lagoon, protected by the coral reef that blocks the swell, and a small wave forms on the outer reef for those wanting freestyle or jumps. Tides do not significantly impact conditions, but beware of the speed limit of 5 knots in the coastal area. Buoys mark the official kitesurfing area, regulated by municipal order.
In high season (December-February), the beach can be crowded with bathers, so increased vigilance is required. Local schools like Glisse & Kite Caraïbes or Feeling Kite ensure good organization on the water.
The ideal conditions are a side-shore East wind of 18-25 knots, stable and thermal during the day.
The water surface is generally flat to light chop in the lagoon, with a small wave on the barrier. No ocean swell thanks to the reef.
The currents are weak in the lagoon thanks to the coral protection. The tides are moderate, with an amplitude of about 0.5-1m, without major impact on navigation.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12m² in medium trade wind, and 7-9m² when it picks up.
The East trade winds dominate, blowing regularly at 15-25 knots in the dry season. With North-East wind, conditions remain good but less side. The regime is reliable except during the peak rainy season.
The tropical climate of Guadeloupe offers warm temperatures year-round, around 25-30°C in the air and 26-29°C in the water. The trade wind season from December to August brings consistent wind, while the months from June to November are wetter with a risk of cyclones, but the spot remains usable except during storms.
The depth is gradual and shallow in the lagoon, with standing depth for several hundred meters. Bottom of sandy and seagrass.
The water remains warm year-round at 26-29°C, with no need for a wetsuit in the dry season.
