The Mérou beach, located between Ayguade and Vieux Salins in Hyères, is a spot lined with palms that offers easy access to the water despite the small pebbles before the sand. It is an excellent choice for beginners and a good backup spot when conditions are too strong elsewhere.

The grassy beach is surrounded by a palm grove set back, with parking available under the palms. The spot is open year-round and has a dog-friendly area.

Signs mark the zones, and a Beach Marshall ensures safety during the season.

Location

Detailed information

The East wind, called Marin, is ideal and onshore, creating a perfect water surface for kitesurfing. The navigation area is marked beyond 300 meters, accessible via a dedicated channel to exit the coastal zone. The take-off area is restricted, reserved for experienced practitioners; beginners should launch from the water by contacting a school.

With an East wind, the water surface is flat as a mirror, perfect for freeride and freestyle. Access to the water is easy without shore break, despite the small pebbles. The area is 250 meters wide, not marked on land but with a PNT channel to reach the navigation space. Be careful of the prohibited buffer zone around the channel for safety.

With a West wind, the water surface is also flat, but the conditions are reversed compared to Almanarre. Maximum speed is 5 knots in the first 300 meters. Prepare the equipment in the area marked perpendicular to the channel.
