Anneville-sur-Mer

The beach of Anneville-sur-Mer, located on the coast of the English Channel in Normandy, is a popular spot for its fine sand and open space facing the ocean. Between quiet villages and preserved dunes, it attracts riders looking for regular sessions.

It is a convenient place to kitesurf even when the tide goes low, with a calm atmosphere away from summer crowds. Locals appreciate the easy access and the unobstructed view of the sea.

Close to easy roads, it is well-suited for kite stays in winter as well as in autumn.

Location

Detailed information

The spot works well with winds from northwest to northeast, which often come in side-on or side-shore relative to the west-facing beach. At high tide, the water surface is wide and accessible directly from the sand, ideal for launching without walking too far. At low tide, a large flat area reveals itself, perfect for launching and the first slides, even if the water remains shallow near the shore.

The kitesurfing area extends several hundred meters offshore, with enough space for freeride and small waves. Be cautious of rip currents at low tide, which can create deeper water zones. Launching usually takes place in the center of the beach to avoid the more exposed ends. In summer thermals, the wind strengthens around noon, offering stable big air sessions.

Local feature: the spot remains accessible late in the evening in summer after 6 PM, when swimming restrictions are lifted. Always check tide times to optimize the session.
