Jullouville

The beach of Jullouville, located on the Normandy coast in Lower Normandy, is a reference freeride spot in the English Channel. It is a place appreciated by local riders for its easy access and regular conditions.

The spot stretches out facing the ocean with a typical Normandy beach atmosphere, lined with dunes and villas. There is an active community of kitesurfers, especially when the wind picks up from the southwest to northwest.

Accessible at all tides, it is a solid choice for calm or more dynamic sessions in strong winds.

Detailed information

The spot works well with winds from S, SSW, SW, WSW, WNW, NW, NNW, which are generally side-shore or side-on relative to the west-facing beach. Side-off wind can occur with pure NW, while onshore dominates with pure south. The launch is directly from the wide sandy beach, with no major obstacles.

The navigation area extends several hundred meters offshore, with good width to launch the kite without disturbing swimmers in season. At low tide, the water remains navigable but watch for dry areas near the shore. At high tide, the space is maximized and launching is smoother.

Some small waves form in strong winds from SW to NW, making the spot more fun for freeride wave. Be cautious of fishing areas or walkers on the beach, especially in summer. The current remains moderate but tides strongly influence the water surface.
