Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The ideal wind for this spot mainly comes from the NE, NW, S, and SW, offering side-shore or side-on conditions depending on the position in the bay. For the best conditions, it is recommended to stay on the north side of the bay, where the water is more stable. The bay is a lagoon with murky water and a sandy bottom, providing flat waters and consistent wind.
Tides are important: at high tide (mid-afternoon), the water is deeper, but at low tide, it becomes very shallow, allowing walking 100 to 200 yards from the shore. Navigation areas include south towards the ocean or north under the bridge in the protected waters of Sagaponack Pond. Launching is done south of the bridge, near Bridge Lane, with easy access for paddleboards.
