Location

Detailed information

At Ghab Beach, the dominant wind often arrives with a side-shore to side-on component depending on the exact orientation on the beach, allowing for comfortable sailing over a large part of the shore. When the wind shifts a bit more crosswise or onshore, one can also have more technical side-off passages, but the overall configuration remains favorable for kitesurfing.

The water surface is generally flat to slightly choppy near the shore, then becomes more irregular as the wind strengthens and one moves away from the shore. At low tide, some areas can become more tense and shallow, while at high tide the water is often cleaner for launching and sailing calmly. Launching takes place from a wide beach, with enough space to prepare equipment and launch the kite without hassle, but one must keep some margin as the wind can be irregular with gusts depending on the days.

The spot works well for riders who enjoy long runs, with a fairly clear navigation area and little crowded sailing. During periods of high local traffic, one must remain attentive to other kites on the beach and keep a clear corridor for takeoff and landing. Conditions are most interesting during the hot months, when thermal wind and seasonal flows settle more regularly.
