Malé (Furanafushi)

Full Moon / Shine Spa is the spot of the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, on Furanafushi, in the Malé Atoll. It is a convenient spot to kitesurf quickly from the airport, with a very clean lagoon resort setting and a clearly vacation-oriented atmosphere.

The spot is especially liked by riders who want easy access to the water, often consistent conditions, and a protected environment. It is a site suitable for an easy session to organize, with a well-known hotel base and well-developed services around kitesurfing.

Location

Detailed information

The spot operates in a protected lagoon logic, with a water surface generally smoother than on the exposed passes of North Malé. The wind often arrives in side-shore to side-on depending on the orientation of the dominant flow on the atoll, which remains exploitable for clean navigation without too many constraints at take-off. The launch is done from the island's beach or from the cleared sandy areas of the resort, with a space simple enough to rig and get on the water, but one must respect swimming zones and the hotel's organization.

The spot is interesting for working on comfortable runs in generally flat to slightly choppy water. At low tide, some shallow areas may appear near the sand edges and require a more careful take-off. At high tide, the water surface becomes more homogeneous and comfortable, with more margin for going upwind and making clean transitions. The site is mainly suitable for leisure navigation, freeride, or foil, rather than for seeking big waves.

The navigation area is limited by boats, the resort's water activities, and swimming sectors. Therefore, it is necessary to keep some margin, especially downwind of the launch area and near the transfer boat traffic axes. Returns are easy as long as the wind remains consistent, but take-offs and landings must be done methodically as the space is more restricted than a large open beach spot.
