Corfu

Paralia Dassia, on the east coast of Corfu, is mainly known for its sheltered bay and easy access from the town. It is a spot that is quite simple to experience, with a calm atmosphere and accessible navigation when the wind comes in properly.

The available online feedback mainly shows a practice oriented towards leisure kitesurfing and initiation sessions in the Dassia area, but the spot remains less consistent than the sites in the southwest of the island. People come here more for calm conditions than for an intense session.

Location

Detailed information

At Paralia Dassia, the water surface is generally calmer than in open sea, as the bay is partially protected. The useful wind most often comes with a NW to W component, but it can be disrupted by coastal effects and lose consistency depending on the strength and orientation of the local thermal. When it comes in well, sailing remains quite easy, with a simple launch area from the beach and a takeoff that requires keeping space, as the beach line is busy in season.

The navigable area is generally more comfortable offshore from the swimming area, as the shore is often used by vacationers and beach activities. The water surface is most often flat to slightly choppy, which is well-suited for calm sessions and freeride. However, this is not a spot known for its power or for a very clean and consistent wind like in the best spots in southwest Corfu. Therefore, one must monitor the available navigation corridors and avoid launching if the wind is too irregular or too onshore on the beach.
