Located at the southern entrance of the Somme Bay, the Hourdel Point is a unique spot, both wild and spectacular, marked by the meeting of the estuary and the open sea. Dominated by its iconic lighthouse and lined with pebbles, this point offers a raw and authentic atmosphere, very different from the large sandy beaches nearby. Kitesurfing takes place in open sea immediately near the estuary, with a very marked influence from the tides and currents of the bay. The spot works mainly around mid-tide to high tide, when the depth becomes sufficient and the pebbles are covered. The dominant wind blows from the west to northwest, arriving side to side-onshore. The water conditions are choppy to rough, with the formation of short and sometimes messy waves due to the outgoing currents from the bay.
