Le Crotoy

Located in the heart of the Somme Bay, Le Crotoy is an atypical spot renowned for its very flat conditions and its vast sandy foreshore. Facing directly south, it enjoys remarkable sunshine and a peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the open sea. Here, navigation takes place in an exceptional natural setting, between sandbanks, changing light, and an open horizon. When the tide is favorable, the water becomes a true billiard table, ideal for freestyle, foiling, and progression, making Crotoy an iconic and sought-after spot.

Location

Detailed information

Navigation takes place in a semi-closed estuarine area, entirely dependent on the tide. The spot mainly works on the rising tide and around high tide, when the depth becomes sufficient. The wind predominantly comes from west to northwest, often side to slightly side-onshore in the navigable area. The water is flat to ultra-flat, protected from swell by the unique configuration of the bay. On the falling tide, vast areas quickly become exposed, making navigation impossible.
