The Coubre beach is oriented facing west, which favors side-shore winds from the northwest or onshore that work well for kitesurfing, creating a ridable but navigable water state. The launch area is directly from the fine, wide, and easily accessible sand, with a take-off zone to the north near the lighthouse where the wind is more consistent.
The navigation area extends several hundred meters along the beach, but one must remain vigilant about the channel areas at high tide that can trap. In NE wind during high tide, a calm zone of 200m along the beach is protected, ideal for progression, while further offshore the tidal flow meets the wind for moderate chop.
The spot works well with winds of 20-30 km/h from NW or SE, with a moderate swell that adds dynamism without being too challenging. Avoid days with high coefficients where the tide covers everything, and prefer bike parking for quick access.
