Punta Gallinas

Bahia Hondita, in Punta Gallinas, is the northernmost kitesurfing spot in South America. It is a timeless place, lost in the heart of the La Guajira desert, where the ochre land plunges into a turquoise lagoon protected by immense dunes. Access is via several hours of off-road driving through lunar landscapes, but the reward is immense: a sheltered bay of flat water, swept by a constant wind and bathed in an intensity of light that is rare. Here, everything is extreme and beautiful: nature, wind, silence, and the feeling of isolation. It is a place of pure riding, reserved for those seeking an adventure and total freedom experience.

Detailed information

The wind blows side-onshore to side-shore (from the right), steady, powerful, and perfectly clean. The water surface is ultra-flat in the closed bay, making it an exceptional spot for freestyle and big air. Outside the bay, the sea becomes more choppy, with a light chop and some spaced-out waves. The riding space is immense and completely untouched. Launching is easy on the fine sand, and the bottom is entirely sandy. It is a technical and isolated spot, but of unparalleled beauty. One rides surrounded by golden dunes, mangroves, and pelicans, in absolute silence, only rhythmically punctuated by the whistling of the wind.
