États-Unis · New Jersey
Fishing Beach at Sandy Hook, located on the coast of New Jersey in the United States, is a kitesurfing spot favored by local riders for its consistent wind and easy access to Gateway National Park. This spot offers a natural setting between the Atlantic Ocean and the calmer waters of Horseshoe Cove, allowing for varied navigation depending on the conditions.
It is an authentic place, often frequented by enthusiasts from the region who come to enjoy the quality of the wind, especially from April to November, the best months to ride there. The atmosphere is relaxed, without heavy tourist infrastructure, making it a preferred location for those seeking a more raw and local experience.
The wind mainly comes in side-shore or side-on depending on the direction, with an ideal orientation coming from the NW and W. The water surface varies with the tides: at low tide, there are more flat areas near the shore, while at high tide, the spot becomes more chop with some occasional waves.
Launching is done directly from Fishing Beach, with a clear and open launching area. Navigation areas include Horseshoe Cove for calmer conditions, and the open part facing the Atlantic for riders seeking waves. Be cautious of the channels near the harbor entrance, where the current can be strong.
