États-Unis · New York
Bennett Beach, on the shores of Lake Erie in New York State, is a simple and straightforward spot, with great beach access and the mouth of Big Sister Creek nearby. It is a place mainly frequented by locals and schools for its practicality and open configuration.
The beach offers a fairly clear environment, with easy access from the sand. The spot is known for its lake beach vibe, calmer than an ocean site, with a setting suitable for kitesurfing sessions when the wind is good.
The spot works best with winds from the W to NW sector, which generally arrive in a side-shore or side-on manner depending on the exact angle on the beach. The large opening of the shoreline allows for fairly clean riding, but the local wind orientation can vary with position on the lake and thermal weather. Access is easy from the beach, and the launch area remains wide, which helps to prepare the kite safely when the space is free.
The water surface is linked to the lake level and wind exposure, with a launch area close to the sand and riding that can quickly extend offshore. The mouth of Big Sister Creek and the beach surroundings create areas to monitor, especially near the creek entrance and sectors where beach attendance is higher. The spot is particularly interesting when the wind is sufficiently established to smooth the lake's surface, as long lines of open water can then offer clean and regular riding.
During peak times, one must keep an eye on cohabitation with swimmers and respect monitored swimming areas, as the site is a very busy beach park in season. The best riding area is generally in front of the beach and moving away from the most crowded sectors, with a cautious launch to avoid the launch area of other users.
