Fréjus

The Pacha beach in Fréjus, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is a dedicated kitesurfing spot located near the mouth of the Argens. Accessible from the parking lot of Base Nature or via the path along the river, it offers a reserved area in summer for riders. It is a popular spot among locals for its proximity to Saint-Aygulf and its preserved natural setting.

In 2022, the kite area was moved to the other side of the Argens, in front of the villa known as "du Pacha". The beach is part of a sector where swimming is prohibited to make way for practitioners. There is a friendly atmosphere, especially with local schools and clubs like Fréjus Kitesurf.

The spot is suitable for all levels, particularly in winter in the half-bay formed by the northern dike. It is a hotspot for kitesurfing on the Côte d'Azur, with a nice view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Location

Detailed information

The spot works well with winds from North to Southwest, side-shore or side-on depending on the direction, ideal for a smooth launch. In south wind during summer, the thermal can rise up to 25 knots, creating a flat water surface in the center but with shorebreak in east wind. The launch area is on the beach near the mouth of the Argens, with a dedicated channel for boards and wingfoils, mandatory in summer to avoid swimming areas.

In winter, riders position themselves in the half-bay north of the last dike, protected from the mistral which completely calms the spot due to the relief. Navigation is done offshore or towards the mouth to avoid surfers when there is east swell. Technical launch in strong east wind due to shorebreak, but easy otherwise on the sand. Tides have little impact in the Mediterranean, the water surface remains constant, choppy in established wind, with waves from the east.

Local peculiarity: in summer, strict reserved area on the other side of the Argens, access via Base Nature. Avoid going out of the channel under penalty of a fine. Good visibility, but be cautious with fishermen and swimmers nearby.
