Deauville

The beach of Deauville, located on the Normandy coast in Normandy, offers a chic setting with its famous colorful beach cabins and its proximity to Trouville. It is a spot favored by riders for its easy access and lively atmosphere, especially outside the summer season.

Close to the Seine estuary, the beach attracts many tourists in summer, but locals regularly kitesurf when the wind picks up. The fine sand and generous space make it a practical place for launching.

With schools like Kite-R Évolution nearby, it is a good starting point for beginners in Normandy.

Location

Detailed information

The Deauville spot works well with a side-on wind coming from the N, NW, or SW, which comes perpendicular to the exposed west beach. The NW is the dominant wind in Normandy, side-on port, consistent and often accompanied by a small swell. The navigation area is wide thanks to the significant sandy beach, with easy launching on flat sand.

The launch area is spacious, but be careful of tourists in summer who crowd the beach. Depending on the tides, the water surface varies: at high tide, it is more choppy with small waves, while at low tide, shallow areas appear, ideal for beginners but to be monitored to avoid overly flat zones. The current remains moderate, influenced by the nearby estuary.

Local feature: typical frontal wind from Atlantic depressions, with possible gusts. Navigate offshore to avoid the crowd and swimmers near the shore.
