Harbour

Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island offers a long ribbon of pink sand facing the Atlantic. It is a spot appreciated for its clean setting, wide beach, and tranquil atmosphere.

On this exposed coast, kitesurfing takes place in a very open setting, with water conditions varying according to the state of the sea and the tide level. The spot is mainly interesting for riders looking for a beautiful beach and relatively simple conditions to read.

Location

Detailed information

The spot is oriented east and the wind is therefore most often side-shore to side-on when it blows from the west to northwest. This exposure generally provides a clean launch from the shore, but the water surface remains subject to the influence of the Atlantic and can become more agitated when the wind picks up.

The navigation area is offshore from the beach, with a possible launch directly from the sand. Takeoff occurs on a wide beach, but it is important to keep space as the area can be frequented by swimmers and visitors, especially during tourist season.

The spot works best when the sea is consistent and the swell does not grow too large. At low tide, some areas can become shallower near the shore, while at high tide the water quickly gains depth. The bottom is mainly sandy, which facilitates navigation, but it is important to remain attentive to current variations and areas more exposed offshore.

The conditions are more suited for riders already comfortable with managing side-shore wind and beach takeoff/landing. The spot can be suitable for a relaxed session, but it does not have the ultra-flat aspect of a closed lagoon.
