Switzerland · Genève
The beach of Hermance, located on the Geneva shores of Lac Léman, is a family-friendly spot just 15 minutes from Geneva. It offers a peaceful atmosphere with its fine sand and lake view.
It is a popular spot for wing foiling when the wind picks up, but kitesurfing has been prohibited by municipal decision since 2022. Locals appreciate its easy access and natural setting.
The beach is bordered by the village of Hermance, with facilities for swimming and light water activities.

The spot mainly works with a South-West wind, which comes side-on relative to the east-west oriented beach. It is a typical thermal wind of the Léman, often steady in the afternoon during summer. The navigation area extends out into the lake but remains limited by prohibitions.
Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, which is easy to access. Take-off is possible on the beach itself for winging, but be cautious of swimmers and reserve zones. The water surface is generally choppy with small waves from the North-East bise, more flat with south-west winds.
Local peculiarity: the lake is vast, but sessions remain short as the wind can drop quickly. Avoid areas close to bird reserves, and respect departure corridors if allowed. It is a technical spot for beginners due to gusts near the shore.
