Location

Detailed information

The spot works best with a wind from the SE, which generally arrives side-shore to side-on depending on the exact axis of the beach. Spot guides also describe crosswind conditions in this part of the southwestern Jamaican coast, which remains favorable for sailing without too much stress during takeoff and landing.

The water surface is generally flat to small waves, with a fairly readable seabed when the sea is consistent. At low tide, sailing remains usable over a large part of the area, but one must keep in mind that the bottom can vary locally and that some areas become more technical near reef edges or less cleared sectors.

Entry is most often from the beach, with a takeoff area to keep clean and clear. The spot is more comfortable for sailing while keeping a good margin offshore, especially if the swell rises or if the wind becomes irregular near the shore.

The area is suitable for leisure and freeride sailing, with enough space to head upwind and easily return to the starting point. The best slots are those where the wind is stable and the sea remains clean, as the spot quickly takes on a more physical character if the wind drops or turns too onshore.
