Plage Nord - Saint Cyprien
France · Occitanie
The north beach of Saint-Cyprien, located between Canet-en-Roussillon and Saint-Cyprien in Occitanie, is a well-organized kitesurfing spot with dedicated areas. It offers a wide space for launching on the left side of the parking lot and clearly separates water activities from swimming, perfect in summer when there are many people.
Close to famous spots like Leucate, it attracts riders for its consistent thermal wind and waves that can reach 1.50 meters thanks to the dike and depressions. Local schools offer courses for all levels, with safety boats and assistance.
It is a place appreciated by locals and vacationers for its friendly atmosphere and clear regulations, indicated by signs everywhere.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot mainly works with sea wind (onshore or side-on from the southeast), thermal during the day in summer, with an orientation that generates clean waves on the exposed beach. The navigation area is marked, with a dedicated kite channel separated from that of boards and swimming; stay inside to avoid conflicts. Launching is done from the sandy beach, with a wide launching area on the left when arriving from the parking lot, with possible assistance from schools.
At high tide, the water opens up more, ideal for freeride; at low tide, it remains navigable but watch the bottom. In strong southeast gusts, waves rise up to 2 meters and the spot becomes technical, with reduced visibility – navigate in groups or with a boat. The tramontane (northwest) blows offshore, so prefer the spot at Parc des Dosses nearby. Reserved zones for kite, windsurf, and SUP, monitored in season with radio and safety.
