Safaga Soma Bay

Steigenberger Kitebeach in Soma Bay is a kitesurfing spot directly linked to the Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma, on a private white sand beach overlooking the Red Sea. Located about 55 km from Hurghada, this luxurious place offers a sheltered setting in the bay, ideal for calm sessions.

The KBC Ras Soma kitesurfing center is located 800 meters south of the main hotel, on a vast 300-meter beach. Beginners appreciate the shallow water and steady wind, while experienced riders enjoy the view of the turquoise waters and surrounding mountains.

The atmosphere is relaxed with high-end facilities, Olympic-sized pools, and easy access from Hurghada airport in 30 minutes.

Location

Detailed information

The spot benefits from a generally side-shore wind blowing diagonally and up from the beach oriented towards the bay of Soma Bay, providing excellent stability for navigation. The launch area is wide and easy on the 300-meter white sand beach, with a clear take-off zone directly from the dry sand. The navigation area extends over a large sheltered bay, with shallow water for several hundred meters, perfect for jibes and tricks without risking the bottom. Beginners progress in small groups of two maximum, supported by support boats for safe learning. No major impact from tides on the water, which remains constant due to the sheltered configuration of the bay. Sessions ideally take place in the late afternoon when the thermal rises, with wind direction often northwest to west depending on the season.
