Detailed information
The water surface is that of a reservoir, so conditions vary little with the tide, as there are no oceanic tides to manage. The wind often blows cross-shore or slightly cross-shore relative to the navigation area, with sessions most often occurring in side-shore to side-on depending on the orientation of the local flow and the axis of the dam.
Entry is generally made from the beach area of Gualliguaica, which serves as the main launch point on the lake. The most used navigation area remains the open space in front of the shore, with a take-off area to keep clean and readable, as the spot can quickly become crowded when several riders and schools share the water. The bottom and edges are rather typical of an artificial lake in an arid valley, with rocky shores in places, which requires aiming for a clean entry and limiting foot movements in less readable areas.
The spot works well for sessions in flat to light chop, with sometimes a glassy surface in the morning and more texture in the afternoon when the wind strengthens. Navigation remains more comfortable in the middle of the water, where the space is freer and where one avoids the obstacles of the shore.
