نظرة عامة

Greece is THE European summer kite destination. The meltemi — the northerly wind that blows 20-35 knots from June to September — sweeps the Cyclades and Dodecanese with remarkable reliability. Paros is the kite capital with Pounda, Golden Beach and Santa Maria. Naxos offers Mikri Vigla, a community gem. Rhodes has Prasonissi, a peninsula connecting two seas and two conditions (flat one side, waves the other — unique in the world). Kos has Marmari and Tigaki. Karpathos is another secret, powerful spot for advanced riders. Greek hospitality, food and landscapes make every post-kite evening memorable.

Why Greece is the #1 European summer kite destination

  • Meltemi: northerly 20-35 kts June to September, up to 25 days/month.
  • Warm water 22-26°C, no wetsuit in summer.
  • Prasonissi (Rhodes): unique peninsula with flat AND waves in one spot.
  • Paros and Naxos: mature kite infrastructure, international schools.
  • Ideal kite + culture + Mediterranean cuisine combination.
  • European proximity: 3-4h flight, charters all summer.

Kite season in Greece — when to go

Meltemi typically kicks in late May and blows until late September. July and August are the most reliable with 20+ wind days/month, but also the busiest. June and September strike an excellent balance: meltemi still there, fewer crowds, softer prices. Off-season (October to April) has little reliable wind and most schools close.
