Cape Verde · São Vicente
Salamansa, on the north coast of São Vicente in Cape Verde, is a vast white sand beach bordered by impressive mountains. It is a versatile spot swept by consistent winds, with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly locals.
The village of Salamansa is peaceful, with a kitesurfing club run by local residents. There are good options for local food and relaxing after the session.
The beach offers plenty of space to settle down, away from the crowds, in an authentic Cape Verdean setting.
Médias históricas por mês — não é uma previsão ao vivo.
The Salamansa spot is oriented facing north, with NE winds coming side-on to side-shore from the right of the beach. Near the shore, there is a shorebreak to watch for when launching, but the beach is wide and sandy, making takeoff and setup easier.
The navigation area is vast: you can stay close to the shore for relatively flat conditions despite some chop, or go further out to the east for small to medium waves ideal for progressing in wave riding. Tides do not significantly impact the water surface, but at low tide, the sandy bottom allows for standing for a while.
No crowds, even in high season: rarely more than a few kites on the water. Be cautious of beginners due to the shorebreak and the waves that break quickly in front of the main beach; intermediates and advanced riders will find their happiness everywhere.
