Santa Maria
Ponta Leme is a spot located east of Santa Maria Bay, on the island of Sal in Cape Verde. It is accessible in about fifteen minutes on foot from the main beach of Santa Maria. It is a popular place for its flat water and waves when the south swell arrives.
The kitesurf center on site offers rentals and windsurfing lessons, as well as surfing and SUP. The wind here is more consistent than elsewhere, although it can be a bit steeper at launch due to the terrain.
This spot is well-suited for intermediates and experts looking for a mix between freeride and easy waves to get started with strapless.

Informações detalhadas
The wind mainly blows cross-offshore from the left, in a northeast direction, making the spot ideal for sailing without drifting too far. Near the beach, the water is flat with a bit of chop due to the wind, and further out, a reef forms waves when there is south swell. The launch area is on a wide sandy zone, but be careful of scattered rocks at launch, it's better to walk a bit downwind to take off cleanly.
The sailing area extends in front of the tip, with space for freeride on twintip or to catch small left waves on the reef. Tides do not significantly influence the water state here, but at low tide, the shore is shallower. For strapless rides, it's perfect with clean and not too powerful waves. Local schools organize downwinds to Kite Beach or Ponta Sino for variety.
The hilly terrain makes the wind a bit gusty compared to Kite Beach, but once in the air, it stabilizes well for long sessions. It's a good spot to progress in waves without the crowds of Santa Maria.
