Quineville

The beach of Quinéville, located on the Normandy coast near Utah Beach, offers a wide and wild space ideal for kitesurfing. It is a popular spot among local riders for its fine sand and tranquil atmosphere, away from the crowds.

The area breathes history with its D-Day beaches, but above all, it is a playground for kiters seeking regular sessions. Access is easy from the coastal road, with nearby parking.

In Normandy, this spot stands out for its simplicity and reliability when the wind sets in.

Detaillierte Informationen

The beach of Quinéville is oriented northwest, making west and northwest winds perfect in side-shore or side-on, offering a stable water surface for clean jibes and controlled jumps. In offshore wind (east), it is absolute flat butter, ideal for freestyle or wakestyle, while in onshore (pure west), small waves form, perfect for beginner wave riding.

Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, wide and obstacle-free, with a clear take-off area of at least 500m. The navigation area extends 1-2 km along the coast, but stay offshore from the shellfish and oyster parks that surface in places. Depending on the tides, at high tide, the water rises and covers shallow areas, making the surface more homogeneous; at low tide, vast sandbanks appear, excellent for strapless or first glides, but check the maps to avoid dry areas.

Local feature: the spot is connected to Utah Beach, so you can link the two for nice downwinds. Be cautious of fishermen and the rare bathers in summer. The wind is often gusty in the morning but stabilizes in the afternoon with averages of 15-25 knots in season.
