Plage de la Mondrée
France · Normandie
The beach of la Mondrée, located in Fermanville on the coast of the English Channel, offers a simple setting between cliffs and golden sand. It is a spot favored by locals for its variable waves and direct access from the road. The launch area is quite wide depending on the tide, and the site remains frequented mainly by local practitioners and walkers.

The dominant wind on la Mondrée beach is often from west to northwest, which generally provides a side-on to side-shore wind at the spot depending on the chosen section of the beach. The navigation area is mainly in front of the main beach; launching is done from the sandy strip when the tide is not too low. The bottom is predominantly sandy with some rocks near the beach heads and cliffs, to be avoided during launches and returns to shore. Depending on the tide, the water surface transitions from flat sections to more tubular and choppy sections when the swell enters the cove. There are reserved areas and seasonal regulations on the beaches of Fermanville (horse traffic, etc.), so one must remain attentive to signs and flags in summer. The take-off and landing area is of medium size; plan to assist a user to secure launches in case of crowds.
