Überblick
In fifteen years, Morocco has become the most consistent kite destination between Europe and Africa. Three regions dominate. Dakhla, in Western Sahara, with its legendary 40-km lagoon framed by dunes, NE trade-wind 20-30 knots, water 20-24°C, and a simple protocol: flat kiting on the lagoon, ocean option for surf-kite. Essaouira, facing the Atlantic, wave capital with powerful thermal wind, for advanced riders who want to ride waves. And the Casa-Rabat-Bouznika-Oualidia coast, a weekend destination still under the radar. What makes Morocco unique: proximity (3h flight from Europe), season length (April to September for Dakhla and Essaouira, spring-summer for Bouznika), cost (below European prices), and above all variety — few places in the world let you flat-kite a desert lagoon in the morning and surf-kite an Atlantic wave 300 km away in the afternoon. The Moroccan scene is mature: Dakhla now hosts about twenty premium all-inclusive kite camps, Essaouira has its historic schools, and the famous Moroccan hospitality — mint tea, tagines after a session, sunset desert rides — is integral to the trip.
