Vietnam has established itself over the past decade as one of the best low-cost alternatives for Asian kiting. Mui Ne is the historic hub with its long east-facing beach, thermal wind from November to March (15-25 knots in the afternoon), red dunes and dirt-cheap cost of living. Phan Rang further north offers even stronger wind and smaller crowds, favoured by experienced kiters. Vung Tau near Ho Chi Minh City is a weekend option for expats. Vietnam combines kite + street food + millennia of culture + unbeatable prices. It's a country where you can live on €30-40/day including lessons and meals. Downsides: long flights from Europe, short season, fewer premium spots than Brazil or Morocco.
