Ion Club Safaga, located about fifty kilometers south of Hurghada on the Red Sea, is a legendary kitesurfing spot in Egypt. The center is situated directly on the beach at the foot of the Shams hotels, with a fantastic setting between the turquoise water and the arid mountains in the background.
It is a popular place for riders of all levels due to its consistent wind and accessible conditions. The main spot is located in front of the center, with a long beach perfect for launching and landing.
Downwind excursions to Toubia Island add a touch of adventure to your sessions.

The spot at Ion Club Safaga offers exceptional conditions for kitesurfing. The wind is offshore in the morning, ideal for downwinds to Toubia Island, then it turns sideshore around 11 am and becomes more consistent throughout the afternoon. The navigation area extends in front of the center, upwind of the hotels, over kilometers of beach with turquoise water up to waist-deep depending on the tides.
Launching is easy from the center's promontory, directly on the sand. The water is flat in the morning, then slightly choppy in the afternoon, perfect for freeride, freestyle, and foil. Two other nearby spots are available to vary sessions, monitored by the center's experienced instructors who advise on kite size and areas for the day.
Tides have little influence on navigation, but the water remains shallow, making the spot ideal for progressing without logistical stress.
