Paloma Baja
Punta Paloma is a legendary spot in Tarifa, Andalusia, known for its immense sand dunes and stunning views of the Strait of Gibraltar. Located a few kilometers from Valdevaqueros, it offers a wide beach of 150 meters with a generous launch area, free of rocks.
It is a popular place for kiters due to its relative calm and conditions suitable for all levels, especially with the Levante and Poniente winds that alternate regularly. In summer, the beach attracts many bathers, but areas are dedicated to kiting.
The natural setting, with the dunes of the natural park of the Strait of Gibraltar, makes it an authentic place for peaceful sessions.

Detaillierte Informationen
The spot of Punta Paloma works well with the two main winds of Tarifa: the Poniente (West), which is side-on to side-onshore, bringing stable and thermal wind in summer around 10-20 knots, ideal for smooth sessions on a choppy water surface with small waves. The Levante (East), stronger and gusty up to 40 knots or more, comes side-off to side-shore due to the effect of the mountains that channel the wind in ESE in the bay, creating a flat to chop water surface perfect for beginners and tricks.
Launching takes place on a wide beach with fine sand, spacious launch area at the western end near the dunes. The navigation area is large, with a separate space for bathers in summer; stay in the marked kite zones. Tides do not influence conditions, the bottom remains navigable. In Poniente, expect chop and small waves, while in Levante it is flatter the first few meters from the shore, perfect for progression.
The wind changes every few days, with a good rate of rideable sessions (60-70% of days >4 Bft in summer). Check for the presence of the rescue boat in Levante, and respect swimmer zones to avoid conflicts.
