Plage du Lido
France · Occitanie
The Lido Beach in Sète, Occitanie, stretches along the coastal strip that separates the Mediterranean from the Thau lagoon. It is a popular spot for kitesurfers due to its dedicated area for accesses 53 and 54, with a channel in high season to separate swimming and navigation.
The beach of 3 Digues, nearby, offers a marked area managed by the Thau Kite Club, ideal for preparing gear without worry. It is easily accessible by bus, car, or bike via the Voie Verte, with free parking and amenities.
The atmosphere is calm off-season, but lively in summer with beachgoers and athletes. The dunes and Mont Saint-Clair in the background add to the local charm.

The spot works well with winds from south and southeast, which are side-on or side-shore relative to the southeast-facing beach. The summer thermal breezes between south and southwest are regular and clean. The navigation area is wide, marked by signs at accesses 53-54, with a channel to avoid swimmers in summer.
Launching is easy without immediate rocks, protected from waves by the dikes, and you can stand far out thanks to the sandy bottom. The technical area is spacious for launching and folding the kite. In autumn-winter, it is deserted; summer requires vigilance to coexist with beachgoers. Kitefoiling and wingfoiling work perfectly here.
The water surface varies little with the tides in the Mediterranean, remaining navigable all year round. Be careful to follow the channel when exiting, especially in strong southeast winds.
