Saint-Suliac

The beach of Saint-Suliac, nestled in a small picturesque village in Brittany near the mouth of the Rance, offers a charming setting with its stone houses and authentic atmosphere. It is a discreet spot appreciated by local riders for its proximity to Saint-Malo and its sheltered water from the Emerald Coast.

The village of Saint-Suliac directly overlooks the beach, with easy access from the nearby parking. There is enough space to launch without too much crowd, even though it is not the most well-known spot in the region.

Surrounded by low cliffs and rocky areas, this place combines tranquility and sailing potential when the wind sets in.

Standort

Detaillierte Informationen

The spot works best with winds from northwest to west, coming in side-shore from the sea, offering stable water. With south wind, it is rarer but possible due to the bay's shelter, although gusty near the cliffs. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, with a launch area in the center to avoid rocky areas on the sides.

At low tide, the water is flat to light chop, perfect for freeride and freestyle, with enough space to maneuver. At high tide, the water rises quickly and brings the rocks closer, making navigation more technical; stay offshore from the narrow beach. The navigation areas extend offshore from the mouth of the Rance, but avoid drifting towards Saint-Malo where boat traffic increases.

Local peculiarity: the large tides in the region strongly influence the available space, and the wind can be disturbed by the cliffs in case of side-off. Always check the authorized navigation times on the Emerald Coast, especially in summer with restrictions for swimmers and pleasure boats.
