Saint-Laurent-du-Var
The Cousteau beach in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, on the Côte d'Azur, is a popular spot for kiters due to its convenient location near Nice. Lined with palm trees, it offers a lively atmosphere with a view of the Var estuary. It's a place where locals regularly gather to ride.
The beach is narrow, about 10 meters wide, which makes launching a bit technical, especially with people around. There is a dedicated area on the right side, called the Comtesse beach, where assistance is common. The spot is monitored in summer, but kitesurfing is prohibited within a radius of 300 meters from April 15 to October 15.
Close to the airport, it sometimes benefits from a protective effect that calms the water with certain winds, making freeride sessions enjoyable.

معلومات مفصلة
The spot mainly works with East or South-East winds, which are side-shore to side-on relative to the southwest-oriented beach. The airport protects the Var estuary from waves, creating a flat to light chop water state ideal for freeride. The navigation area extends in front of the beach between the tip of Bateg and the white buoy, nicknamed "yogurt pot" by locals.
With West or South-West winds (mistral), it is offshore and more exposed, with powerful shore break waves due to the breakwaters and the nearby airport. Launching is done from the narrow beach, mandatory vigilance for streetlights, parking, and road in west wind. Take-off and landing on the Comtesse beach to the right, where there is space but be cautious of bathers in season. Tides do not significantly influence conditions, it is consistent.
Areas to avoid: shallows and rocks, especially when foiling. The reef break can rise to over 3m with large swells, reserved for experts. Always check the prohibited area of 300m in summer.
