Mandelieu-la-Napoule

The Sable d’Or beach is oriented east-west, which favors side-on or side-shore winds from the southwest to west, typical of the Côte d'Azur. The navigation area is designated for kitesurfing, with easy launching on the fine, wide sand. Launches are done directly on the beach, but schools often prefer downwind sessions in deep water to avoid obstacles and maximize riding time.

The water surface is generally chop due to Mediterranean thermal winds, with small waves depending on the swell. The tide has little impact here as it is an open beach to the sea, but at low tide, the shore remains navigable. The navigation area extends offshore, far from bathers, and it is important to respect the buoys to avoid nearby swimming zones like the beach of the Dolphins.

Local peculiarity: sessions are often supervised by boat to bring riders back, especially for beginners. Avoid days of strong mistral (northwest) which can be offshore and risky for stability.
