The beach of Montmartin-sur-Mer is oriented west, which means that winds from sectorial west-southwest are side-on perfect for easy launching and stable navigation. The water remains relatively flat thanks to the protection of the point of Agon-Coutainville, ideal for first sessions or light freestyle.
The launch area is directly on the wide beach, with an easy entry on wet sand. The navigation area extends about 500 meters from the shore, while ensuring to stay away from marked swimming zones in summer. With the significant tides of the Channel, at low tide the water is more extensive but the shore can be steeper, while at high tide it is more compact and protected.
The dominant winds come from southwest to west, side-shore, with little risky side-off. Be cautious on days of strong wind where chop can form quickly if it is direct onshore.
