Le Conquet

The beach is oriented northwest, which means that NW and W winds are side-on or side-shore perfect for kitesurfing, providing good power without too much drift. N or NE winds can be more onshore and gusty due to the cliff to the north. The navigation area extends along the entire length of the beach at low tide, with easy access to the water on the flat and hard sand, ideal for takeoff.

At low tide, the space is vast and the spot works well for freeride and waves, but at high tide, the beach shrinks and kiting is limited, especially near the cliff. In summer, from June 1 to September 15, a large swimming area is marked by yellow buoys over a good part of the beach; the kite area is then reduced to the north, complicating things for beginners. Prefer the left side of the beach for more space, accessible from the parking lots on the road to the Kermorvan Peninsula.

The spot is nicknamed the “carrot spot” for its unpredictability: conditions can change quickly with the swell of the Celtic Sea. Waves mainly form on the rise, perfect for surf kiting, but beware of cohabitation with surfers, bodyboarders, and windsurfers. The wind is often steady but can pick up quickly facing Ouessant.
