Plage des Trois Moutons
France · Bretagne
The Plage des Trois Moutons, located in Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau in northern Brittany, is part of a large area of 2.8 km of continuous beaches between Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau and Saint-Pabu. It is an official kitesurfing spot, appreciated by locals and schools for its fine sand and direct access to the water.
Tréompan is the name given by regulars to this west-facing beach, ideal for sliding sports all year round. A school like Rêve O Kite is established there, with feet in the water, offering courses for all levels.
The beach is particularly attractive with west to northeast winds, with a friendly atmosphere despite summer crowds.

The spot works well with winds from west to northeast, with northeast being the most favorable for a clean and side-shore water surface. With pure west winds, it is side-on direct on the beach, perfect for easy launches from the sand. The navigation area extends across the entire bay, but be cautious of Sieck Island to the north which creates disturbances with northwest winds, making the water surface more choppy.
Launching is done directly from Plage des Trois Moutons, which is wide and sandy. In summer, from June 1 to September 15, a swimming area is marked by yellow buoys, requiring navigation to the north of the beach where space is more limited – not ideal for beginners. The launch area is then restricted, so it's better to choose calm times.
With rising tide and swell, waves form, excellent for surf-kiting but risky for novices. The water surface is generally choppy to wave depending on the tide and wind, with good side-shore power allowing for riding far offshore without issues.
