Samos

Kedros Beach, located on the northeast coast of the island of Samos in Greece, offers a unique and authentic setting, nestled in nature. It is a popular spot among local riders for its consistent wind, particularly the Meltemi, and its relaxed atmosphere. The beach is sparsely populated, allowing for a free and uncrowded kitesurfing space.

The name Kedros (which means cedar in Greek) reflects the preserved natural environment. The beach, 400 meters long, is lined with pebbles and sand, with turquoise and clear water. Facilities such as restaurants, snack bars, restrooms, and showers are available, making the spot accessible for a full day.

Informazioni dettagliate

The main wind is the Meltemi, which comes from the North (ideal direction: N, NW), providing a side-shore or side-on depending on the exact position on the beach. With the Meltemi, winds reach 18 to 22 kts in the afternoon. Without the Meltemi, a thermal wind of 14 to 18 kts also develops in the afternoon. The wind orientation is favorable for kitesurfing, with a water surface that is chop or wave depending on conditions.

The water surface is chop to wave, with small choppy waves forming quickly after the first 5 meters of depth. The beach drops off quickly, with coarse pebbles in the first 5 meters, requiring water shoes. Navigation areas are free, with no marked channel, but the northern area should be avoided where rocks are exposed. Entry is easy, and launching is done from the beach, with sufficient space.

Wind conditions are consistent, with a high frequency of the Meltemi from mid-June to mid-September.
