The Baie de Nodeven in Mentoull, in the north of Finistère in Brittany, is a kitesurfing spot known by locals for its open space facing the ocean. Located near Plouescat, it offers a beautiful sandy beach ideal for launching the kite without constraints.
It is a quiet place, perfect for sessions on your own or with a local school like 100%kitesurf. The atmosphere is relaxed, with an unobstructed view of the northern Breton coast.
The spot works well all year round, especially with the prevailing northwesterly winds that sweep through the region.

The bay is oriented facing west-northwest, making it a perfect spot for a side-on or side-shore wind coming from the NW or W. In onshore winds from the northwest, the water surface is smooth and spacious, ideal for progressing in freestyle or freeride. The launch is directly from the wide sandy beach, which is obstacle-free, with an extensive launch area even at high tide.
At low tide, the water is shallow for several hundred meters, offering a perfect flat for beginners who can stand for a long time. At high tide, the navigation area widens but remains protected from large swells by the shape of the bay. Experienced riders can push out for higher jumps, while intermediates stay close to the shore.
Local feature: the thermal breeze often picks up in the afternoon in summer, and downwind sessions are possible towards neighboring spots like the bay of Goulven. Be cautious of sandbanks that shift with the tides, and plan to use a leash for the kite in case of marked sideshore.
