Larmor-Plage

The Toulhars beach in Larmor-Plage, Brittany, is a family beach of 500 meters of fine sand, well sheltered and lined with a pedestrian promenade. It is supervised in July and August, with access for people with reduced mobility. It is a popular spot for local kitesurfers and glide schools, especially with NE to SE winds.

At low tide, the sea retreats 200 meters, leaving a large space for beach volleyball or sailing. The beach is close to the city center but quieter on the right side, away from the road. Surfers come in winter, and kiters enjoy the side-shore conditions.

The spot is managed by associations like Lorient Glisse & Foil, with meetings at the beaches of Toulhars or Nourriguel a few hundred meters away.

Detaillierte Informationen

The Toulhars beach mainly works from mid-tide to low tide with a NE to SE wind, which is side-shore and a bit irregular but effective. Launching is done directly from the fine sandy beach, easy to access even for beginners in training. The riding area extends several hundred meters at low tide, with a water surface that goes from flat to choppy depending on the tide and wind.

At high tide, the beach space is reduced, making launching more technical near the promenade and walkers. Schools like Ty Kite Skol organize sessions here or at the nearby Nourriguel, depending on the tides and wind. Be careful of the channel for water activities: navigation is prohibited there by prefectural order. Riding areas remain wide on the right side, near the rocks, but avoid the nearby houses. In strong NE wind, waves form for strapless fun.
